What is a Caregiver?
A caregiver is someone who brings comfort and support to those who need a little extra help. At Freedom Caregivers, you'll have the rewarding opportunity to assist older adults in maintaining their independence and enjoying life in their own homes. As a caregiver, you'll provide personalized support with everyday tasks, including:
- Personal Care: Offering compassionate, hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and medication reminders, helping clients feel their best.
- Homemaking: Creating a comfortable and supportive environment by assisting with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and errands.
- Companionship: Providing vital social connection and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients who may be feeling isolated.
- Respite Care: Offering crucial support and a valuable break to family caregivers, making a difference for the whole family.

What do caregivers do?
ADLs, or Activities of Daily Living, are the basic self-care tasks that most of us perform daily without a second thought. They are fundamental to maintaining our autonomy and well-being.
What are ADLs?
The ADLs, or activities of daily living, are all the basic self-care activities that people normally do for themselves. These include:
- Eating: The simple act of feeding ourselves.
- Personal Hygiene: Caring for our bodies through bathing and grooming.
- Toileting: Managing our personal bathroom needs.
- Dressing and Grooming: Getting ready for the day.
- Mobility: Moving around safely and comfortably.
What are IADLS?
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) are the skills that go beyond basic self-care, allowing individuals to manage their households and participate in their communities. These include:
- Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean and safe home.
- Meal Preparation: Planning and making meals.
- Medication Management: Taking prescriptions as directed.
- Shopping: Obtaining necessary goods.
- Telephone Use: Communicating effectively.
- Community Transportation: Getting around independently.
